A new era has begun. Three years of transformational improvements since the former Indianhead and Blackjack were purchased by Midwest Family Ski Resorts in 2022, becoming Snowriver Mountain Resort.
The U.P.'s Only High Speed Chairlift - 2023
Snowriver is proud to be the first ski resort in the Upper Peninsula to offer a high-speed lift. Serving up 538' of vertical in just over 3 minutes, you're legs will be tired before your toes get cold!
The Voyageur Express 6-Pack Chairlift has revitalized the skiing and riding experience at Snowriver Mountain Resort's - Jackson Creek Summit (old Indianhead.). This state-of-the-art lift was installed over the summer of 2023 and made it's debut in December!
Complete Renovation to the Lodge at Jackson Creek - 2023
Rooms in the old Indianhead Lodge & Suites have been updated with new furnishings, flooring, and bathroom fixtures to modernize these buildings and bring additional comfort and space for guests.
The Lodge at Jackson Creek, as it is now known, features the most modernized rooms in ski industry within the Upper Peninsula. All 20 rooms in the main lodge have been fully renovated.
Direct-To-Lift Technology & Gates - 2024
We are thrilled to announce that no longer will season passholders have to go to the ticket window to get their passes, and lift ticketed guests making a return to Snowriver can easily reload their lift ticket for a return visit! RFID Technology will be employed at both Black River Basin and Jackson Creek this winter at our most popular lifts, such as the Voyageur 6-pack. The RFID technology will also allow us to give you some feedback at the conclusion of the season on how many visits you've made and more! More on that in the future, but for now, we are happy to again be a first for the U.P. with this type of technology.
Renovated Hot Tub, Pool & New Fitness Center 2023 & 2024
The pool and hot tub at the Lodge at Jackson Creek have been completely renovated with new fixtures, furniture, and surroundings creating an inviting location to enjoy after a day on the slopes. The pool and hot tub were completely drained, painted and solidified in the spring of 2024. Guests now also have a new fitness center within the Lodge to accompany the pool, hot tub and sauna!
Snowmaking Upgrades - 2024
Over the summer of 2024 Snowriver Mountain Resort focused it's efforts on the early season snow surfaces and snowmaking. Snowriver invested heavily into snowmaking with the acquisition of four new SMI Polecat Boosted carriage snowguns and 13 new Techno Alpin TR8 Automated Snowguns.
The TR8 Automated guns will be the majority of the fleet of firepower opening up terrain earlier than any other UP Ski Resort to compliment Mother Nature's bounty. The 4 SMI boosted machines will be able to be used at the top of the mountain where water pressure decreases. The onboard booster pump will help keep water pressurized to make more snow than ever before!
Legacy Restaurant - 2023
Legacy Restaurant is located in the Lodge at Jackson Creek. Open daily, Legacy offers sit down dining in a relaxed, remodeled restaurant. Located on top of Jackson Creek Summit, attached to The Lodge main lobby. Over the summer Legacy has been fully remodeled from the ground up with new carpet, walls, and a brand new menu.
Legacy will also be the restaurant to host breakfast here at the resort.
New Grooming Machines - 2024
To ensure the best possible skiing conditions, Snowriver invested in state-of-the-art grooming equipment. This season, the resort will introduce:
- 1 Prinoth Bison Snowcat: Known for its efficiency and superior performance, this snowcat will help maintain the pristine condition of the slopes, providing skiers with smooth and enjoyable runs.
- 1 Pisten Bully 400 Snowcat: Another addition to the grooming fleet, this machine is renowned for its powerful grooming capabilities, ensuring that all trails are expertly maintained throughout the season.
Complete Renovation of Sugar Maple Chalet - 2023 & 2024
Renovations to the Sugar Maple Chalet have been on-going since Midwest Family Ski Resorts purchased the resort in 2022. New furnishings, carpet, paint, a brand new guest services desk, retail store, ski patrol & rental areas and decor have been a big piece of the interior. The exterior has seen new ticket windows, a new patio, and new siding over the last off-seasons.
Dudley's Tavern - 2023
Dudley's tavern, located within the lodge at jackson creek, has been completely remodeled to offer up an after ski bar experience with live music each weekend and holiday.
Enjoy a drink while you cozy up to the bar and listen to local musicians! In 2024-2025 join us on Monday nights in Dudleys with live music featuring Phyl Wickham and pizza & beer specials!
