Improvements for 2024-2025
As winter approaches, Snowriver Mountain Resort is gearing up for an exhilarating season! We're stoked to get the snowmaking underway this weekend! Snowmaking will begin in earnest as cold temperatures are finally coming in starting over the weekend, and our teams are poised, and ready as soon as the mercury climbs below that magic mark. We are excited to start the season, and we will make an opening day announcement here within the week! Hang tight, we are excited about the cold that is coming in and wish to give you the most up-to-date information when we know.
With that being said, we have a huge season ahead, and we have a series of significant upgrades and enhancements aimed at elevating the visitor experience for the 2024-2025 ski season. Here’s what you can look forward to:
RFID GATES!
We are thrilled to announce that no longer will season passholders have to go to the ticket window to get their passes, and lift ticketed guests making a return to Snowriver can easily reload their lift ticket for a return visit! RFID Technology will be employed at both Black River Basin and Jackson Creek this winter at our most popular lifts, such as the Voyageur 6-pack. The RFID technology will also allow us to give you some feedback at the conclusion of the season on how many visits you've made and more! More on that in the future, but for now, we are happy to again be a first for the U.P. with this type of technology.
Huge New Grooming Machines
To ensure the best possible skiing conditions, Snowriver is investing in state-of-the-art grooming equipment. This season, the resort will introduce:
- 1 Prinoth Bison Snowcat: Known for its efficiency and superior performance, this snowcat will help maintain the pristine condition of the slopes, providing skiers with smooth and enjoyable runs.
- 1 Pisten Bully 400 Snowcat: Another addition to the grooming fleet, this machine is renowned for its powerful grooming capabilities, ensuring that all trails are expertly maintained throughout the season.
These upgrades reflect Snowriver’s commitment to providing guests with the finest skiing experience possible.
Enhanced Snowmaking Capabilities
Snow conditions are crucial for an unforgettable skiing experience, and Snowriver is taking snow-making to the next level with the addition of:
- 13 new Techno Alpin TR8 Automated Snowguns: These cutting-edge snowguns allow for more efficient snow production, ensuring that the slopes are covered with high-quality snow, even in fluctuating weather conditions.
- 4 new SMI Polecat Boosted Snowguns: Known for their ability to produce snow in warmer temperatures, these snowguns will help maintain optimal skiing conditions throughout the season.
With these new additions, Snowriver is prepared to provide consistent and reliable snow coverage across its vast terrain
Huge Music Calendar!
Snowriver is bringing back the music to both chalets & Dudley's with live music scheduled to operate Friday - Monday and holidays this season! Crowd favorites such as Corey Carlson & Scott Kirby will be back for residency stints at both Jack's & Gabbro Grills! Five huge concerts are slated to take place at Black River Basin with Ember throwing it to 2025 with Copperbox, IV Play (Four Play), Shotgun Ragtime and Chicken Wire Empire all rounding out our Jagermeister Black River Concert Series. Dates & Times are still TBD - look for updates very soon!

As we are making snow and gearing up for the season, be sure to also keep an eye on our two other sister resorts - Granite Peak to our south and Lutsen Mountains, MN to our northwest! Both properties are also ramping up their snowmaking and should be opening up right around the same time. Will we beat them??? Maybe. Only time will tell, but we are as anxious to get this season underway and we'll have more updates next week as we get into our snowmaking window. Stay tuned to our social media and webcams.
